Ways and Means

The Ways and Means Committee, which assumes the role of chief tax-writing authority in the House of Representatives, presides over a significant legislative jurisdiction ranging from tariffs and reciprocal trade agreements to social security and Medicare. With the appointment to the oldest and most powerful committee in Congress, I’m well-positioned to put our district and values on the national stage, while continuing to prioritize Rural America’s most critical issues – agriculture, energy, and healthcare. This assignment gives me the strongest voice to advocate for farmer and ranchers, senior citizens, and every West Texan that I’m privileged to represent in Washington.
