WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) issued the following statement regarding his vote against the expulsion of Rep. George Santos (NY-03):

“The allegations against Representative Santos should be taken seriously, but in the United States, you are innocent until proven guilty. 

Although Representative Santos has admittedly misrepresented himself to his constituents, he is entitled to due process under the law and expelling a Member of Congress before courts have had a chance to rule on their guilt creates a dangerous precedent.”
