Internships

WASHINGTON, DC

In the Washington, DC office, internships run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for college students. The hours are flexible to accommodate students’ course schedules, but generally run 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm when Congress is in session, and 8:50 am to 5:00 pm when not in session.

DC interns’ responsibilities will vary, as no two days are the same. These duties include answering constituent phone calls, conducting Capitol Tours, researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings, and other duties as assigned. As a result, interns will gain valuable insights into the legislative process while experiencing the inner workings of a United States Congressional office.

DISTRICT

We are currently accepting applications for the Spring 2024 semester. In the District office, interns will be tasked with a variety of tasks, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, assisting with correspondence, and playing a role in district communication. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent casework, create congressional briefs to inform the legislative staff, and work on District-based projects of importance. Throughout their time in the office, interns may have the opportunity to travel to district events and experience real-time constituent interactions.
