Chairman Arrington Statement on Passage of H.R. 2670 - National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) issued the following statement on H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024, as it passed the House and Senate.

“At a time when the world is more dangerous and US military funding as a share of the federal budget is the lowest since World War II, the defense bill provides our troops with the resources they need to be safe and successful in the first and most important job of our government.  In addition, this defense package saves billions of taxpayer dollars by cutting $37 billion in wasteful spending and rooting out woke programs by banning CRT, gutting DEI programs, removing the pride flag from military bases, and repealing radical climate mandates.

This defense package limits the Biden administration’s efforts to reduce the number of Special Forces and prevents the divestment of key aircraft, including the F-22 and C-130; prohibits the DoD from reducing the number of missiles in our nuclear arsenal; and bolsters our lethality to counter adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran.

I am proud we gave our troops the biggest pay raise in 20 years, and that we were able to fully fund Dyess Air Force Base, B-1 weapon modernization, and the next-generation B-21 bomber.

America must project strength - this legislation shows our unwavering commitment to our troops, stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and rooting out woke ideology and unAmerican policies that have no place in our military.”
