Today, Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement after the Republican Steering Committee voted to elect Congresswoman Kay Granger (TX-12) to take the helm as Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee.
“Congratulations to my friend and fellow Texan, Kay Granger, on being selected as Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee for the 116th Congress,” said Arrington. “Kay’s record of service to Texas and our nation, coupled with her tenacious drive, will serve her well in this new role.
“I’m not surprised Kay has set a new milestone in becoming the first woman to be the top Republican on the Appropriations Committee; she has been setting records her whole life. Besides mother, grandmother, teacher, and businesswoman, her toughness and tenacity have granted her an additional title since being both the first female mayor of Fort Worth and the first woman elected to the U.S. House from Texas. In true Texas fashion, Kay has demonstrated time and time again that anything is possible with hard work, determination, and perseverance.”
