KAMC: Sophia Talks About Experience at the National Prayer Breakfast

A standing ovation was given for West Texas' own Sophia Campa-Peters during the National Prayer Breakfast Thursday morning in Washington, D.C. President Donald Trump told the crowd Sophia's story and her request for prayers. Dignitaries from around the world attended the event. "I feel good," said Sophia. She is recovering from recent brain surgery on January 26. "The day after brain surgery I got up and walked," said Sophia. She says it is because of thousands of prayers from strangers. "Doctors say, how did I do it? I'll tell you how: God." said Sophia. Before her surgery, the Brownfield native asked for 10,000 people to pray for her. "I thought that, are in the world, how many people are in the world? 10,000," said Sophia. That number quickly multiplied and caught the attention of President Trump, who invited her to Washington on Thursday to thank her in person. "Sophia, you may only be 9-years-old, but you are already a hero to all of us in this room, and all over the world," said President Trump. Sophia may be a hero to the President, but to Sophia… "He's just another person in the world that prayed for me." said Sophia. Republican Congressman Jodey Arrington saidSophia brings hope at a time when it is needed: "Our country needs prayer more than policy solutions." "Thank you everyone for praying for me," Sophia said.
