Arrington: Concerned About Spending, More Concerned About Helping Families & Small Businesses Recover
Washington, DC,
March 27, 2020
Today, Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement of support for tomorrow's House vote on the CARES Act:
“Our government’s aggressive response to a global pandemic and looming national crisis has upended every sector of our economy and all aspects of our lives. It’s crucial we move quickly to provide temporary relief for our working families, small businesses, and frontline health care professionals,” said Arrington.
“While I have serious concerns about some provisions in the bill, as well as the overall price tag, I am more concerned about delaying support for millions of hurting Americans and the prospect of an even costlier recession for our country.”
“I am pleased we were able to stave off most of the unrelated, partisan policies, prevent new, permanent programs, and keep expenses to a one-time cost.”
“Our nation is going through an unprecedented crisis - the bridge loans for businesses and temporary assistance for workers will help our families recover and our economy rebound. Extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures.”
