Arrington Honors Life and Legacy of WTX Native Officer David “Big Dave” Smith

Washington, D.C. – This week, House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) delivered a speech on the House floor remembering his friend and West Texas native Officer David Smith, who passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the age of 55. “The promise of God is that whoever believes in his son shall not perish but live forever. And I know that was a promise that Officer David Smith believed with all of his heart,” said Chairman Arrington in part. “The world lost a bright light. I lost a friend and brother in Christ. But, he’s not lost. He’s alive and well today, more so maybe than ever. He’s with his Heavenly Father, and he has inherited that promise of eternal life.”
