U.S. Rep. Jodey Arrington announced in a news release Friday that he is one of four House Republican members — and the only freshman — appointed to a bipartisan committee of House and Senate members tasked with reforming the congressional budget process. Arrington of Lubbock represents the 19th District, which includes Abilene and much of the Big Country. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan named House members to the Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform. This committee was established in the recently passed Bipartisan Budget Act, according to a news release from Arrington. “Balancing our budget and reducing our country’s debilitating debt is the challenge of the 21st century. We, as members of this select committee, have a unique opportunity to help stave off a crisis, solve our debt problem, and pass along to our children a safe, free, and solvent America. It is past time Congress gets serious about addressing the root causes that are driving our debt and threatening our nation’s future,” Arrington said in the news release. Arrington currently serves on the House Budget Committee, Veterans’ Affairs Committee Agriculture Committee. https://www.reporternews.com/story/news/2018/02/23/u-s-rep-jodey-arrington-appointed-budget-reform-committee/366892002/ |
