VIDEO: Arrington, GOP Doctors Caucus Discuss Border Crisis Following Visit to Rio Grande Valley

MCALLEN Yesterday, Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) joined Dr. Phil Roe (TN-1) and members of the GOP Doctors Caucus in McAllen, TX to meet with senior medical officials from the Department of Homeland Security in the Rio Grande Valley sector of the Texas-Mexico border region. Congressmen Arrington and Roe joined Dr. Michael Burgess (TX-26), Dr. Roger Marshall (KS-1) Dr. Neal Dunn, M.D. (FL-2), Dr. Brad Wenstrup (OH-2), and Buddy Carter (GA-1), to get a firsthand account of the challenges facing the border patrol and medical professionals as they work to address the humanitarian crisis at the border. “The good people of the Department of Homeland Security and certainly border patrol agents are doing everything they can with what they have, but they’re overwhelmed. Half of the border patrol agents are leaving their jobs to secure the border and enforce the law to provide humanitarian aid,” said Arrington. “It’s discouraging to know that the root causes are not being dealt with – the loopholes, the magnets that are bringing people here, and the lack of border security. These are issues that every member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, are well aware of. It’s really about the political will to do something about it, I know these gentlemen are committed.” WATCH THE FULL VIDEO FROM THE MEMBERS’ VISIT:
