Arrington Demands Full Accounting of Federal Funding for Rogue Prosecutors

Today, Rep. Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released a letter he sent to Attorney General Bill Barr requesting a full accounting of all Justice Department grants to local prosecutors’ offices in cities including: Atlanta, GA; Minneapolis, MN; New York, NY; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Washington, D.C.; and Chicago, IL in 2018 and 2019:

“Yesterday, AG Barr announced that the cities of New York, Portland and Seattle will be labeled as ‘anarchist jurisdictions’ who, due to a failure to control rioters and a desire to defund the police, will have their federal grant dollars reviewed and possibly withdrawn. The American people deserve to know if their tax dollars are funding prosecutors who are betraying the public trust by refusing to uphold the law and protect our citizens,” said Rep. Arrington.

“This violence and lawlessness cannot continue. Prosecutors must do their job and hold accountable those who seek to destroy our communities. If prosecutors refuse to faithfully execute their duties and uphold the law, then Department of Justice funding awarded to these cities each year should be withheld.”
