Arrington To Vote Against Democrat Power Grab to Federalize Elections and Our Nation’s Police Force

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) announced he will vote against H.R. 1, the “For the Politicians Act,” and H.R. 1280 the “George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.” Both bills were authored without Republican input. “H.R. 1 is a Democrat power grab to federalize elections and force all states to codify the reckless and fraud ridden voting rules of 2020. This partisan legislation – disguised as election reform – would corrupt our democracy at its core by completely undermining the integrity and security of our elections. If passed, the Democrats’ top priority would be the largest transfer of power from the people to the federal government in the history of the United States." “The vast majority of law enforcement officers across this country serve with integrity, and I am profoundly grateful for their commitment to keeping our communities and families safe. H.R. 1280 is another instance of Democrat Leadership expanding big government and federalizing our police force. I will not tie the hands of law enforcement, defund or federalize the police, nor will I penalize the vast majority of honorable officers because of a small percentage of bad cops and isolated incidents.” |
