Arrington Appointed to Joint Economic Committee

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) was appointed to the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC) by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23). The JEC is a bicameral Congressional Committee tasked with reviewing economic conditions and recommending improvements in economic policy.

Arrington has been a leader in pro-growth, America-first tax and trade policies as well as reducing the debt and restoring fiscal responsibility. In his first term, he served on the House Committee on the Budget and was the only freshman member appointed by Speaker Paul Ryan to the Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform. He was appointed to the Committee on Ways and Means in his second term where he serves on both the tax and trade subcommittees. He is the founder and co-chair of the only bipartisan debt reduction and budget reform Congressional initiative.

“I am grateful to Leader McCarthy and honored to serve on the JEC. I fundamentally believe that liberty and prosperity are inextricably linked, and America’s free market economy has created the greatest opportunities and quality of life in the history of the world. Therefore, I will be a champion for economic freedom, fair and open trade, and restoring fiscal responsibility to ensure America remains the land of endless opportunity,”said Rep. Arrington.

“With years of experience on the House Ways and Means Committee, Congressman Jodey Arrington understands how sound economic policy produces tangible benefits for his constituents in West Texas and for hardworking taxpayers across the country. Now, he will be bringing his expertise to the Joint Economic Committee, where he will assist the committee in the critical role of recommending improvements in economic policy to all of Congress. From helping craft the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, to fighting against overregulation and helping break down unfair trade deals, I am confident that Congressman Arrington is ready for the challenge,”said House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy.

“I am pleased to have my friend and colleague, Rep. Jodey Arrington, join the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) this Congress.Rep. Arrington has been a leader in promoting strong economic policy to increase hard-working Americans’ wages and reduce our unemployment. I look forward to working with him on JEC to continue our work on pro-growth policy solutions to re-create the strong economy we saw just a year ago,”said JEC Senior House Republican David Schweikert.
