Arrington Statement on April Jobs Report

WASHINGTON, DC –Today, Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) issued the following statement on the April jobs report:

“Today’s dismal jobs report is a sign of what’s to come under Biden’s job crushing policies, and is a flashback to the anemic economic growth during the Obama-Biden Administration. The results show that the economy fell 734 thousand jobs short of expert projections. It is no coincidence that this news arrives just as the Democrat’s big-government policies, like paying people more to stay home than to work, are beginning to take hold. The unemployment rate rose to 6.1 percent, the first time the rate has gone up during the recovery. 18 thousand manufacturing jobs were lost, and Biden’s proposed tax hikes will cause even more damage by killing millions of additional jobs.

“It’s clear now more than ever that President Biden’s big-spending and tax-into-oblivion policies are anti-worker and anti-growth. He claims the February “jobs and stimulus bill” helped the economy — but the scoreboard says otherwise. Instead, it created barriers to recovery and the reopening of our economy. Biden should be focused on working across the aisle to accelerate our nation’s reopening and recovery, not caving to the far-Left’s pressure to enact socialist policies.”
