Arrington Meets With USDA Secretary Vilsack To Discuss Agriculture Priorities

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement after joining members of the House Western Caucus in a meeting with USDA Secretary Vilsack to discuss their agriculture priorities and concerns:

“During my meeting with Secretary Vilsack, I raised my serious concerns with the radical ideology and extreme environmental policies of the Green New Deal, which are driving the Biden Administration’s economic agenda – including Waters of the United States (WOTUS), doubling the death tax, and banning drilling on public lands.

“Additionally, we discussed the need for Congress to reauthorize the Wildfire Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+) program due to the severe and widespread drought."

“I was pleased Secretary Vilsack recognized the importance of WHIP+ for producers nationwide and committed to working in tandem with Congress to get this important relief to our producers."

“I urged Secretary Vilsack to be a voice of reason regarding the Biden Administration’s tax, regulation, and trade policies and their impact on our nation’s farmers and ranchers.”
