Arrington Leads Letters Opposing Vaccine Mandates That Will Decimate Workforce

Washington, DC, November 5, 2021 | Christian McMullen (806-224-5216)

WASHINGTON, DC—This week, Rep. Jodey C. Arrington (TX-19) led two letters in opposition to President Biden’s authoritarian vaccine mandates in an effort to have the mandates rescinded or defeated in court. Rep. Arrington was joined by 19 of his House colleagues in a letter to 27 State Attorneys General urging them to uphold their commitments to fighting the vaccine mandate in court and offering to assist through any existing Congressional authority including oversight, legislation, and court briefs. Rep. Arrington also sent a letter to the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, urging her to rescind the Agency’s vaccine mandate on healthcare providers and focus on empowering individuals to make well-informed healthcare decisions according to their personal beliefs and needs. Voicing his strong opposition OSHA’s Vaccine Mandate, Rep. Arrington said:

“Biden’s heavy-handed and wholly unnecessary vaccine requirement is a startling and unconstitutional expansion of executive authority. Not only does OSHA lack this power and the workforce to enforce it, but the proposal will be enforced through emergency temporary standard (ETS), which does not require evaluation through notice and comment periods. Considering this mandate will directly affect 84 million Americans, with millions more facing indirect harm, public feedback and information is imperative to such a broad declaration.

“This panic-driven policy will have significant consequences on an already strained labor market and drive essential workers out of the workforce that needs them now more than ever. This time last year, President Biden repeatedly praised healthcare workers and small business owners as heroes. Now, he is effectively firing them for political reasons. Additionally, case counts and hospitalizations are sharply declining, further negating a “need” for vaccine mandates.

“Given the clear unconstitutionality of this mandate, I trust states and the courts will work quickly to intervene in a policy that will decimate the American workforce. I will continue to use my authority in Congress to invalidate these mandates and fight for Americans’ healthcare freedom and individual liberties.”

Earlier this week, Rep. Arrington also joined two letters specifically raising concerns about the Biden vaccine mandates, with the first focusing on impacts on military readiness at the Department of Defense, and the second focusing on how these mandates will harm Border Patrol agents already struggling with the unprecedented crisis at the southern border.
