WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Rep. Jodey C. Arrington (TX-19), with twenty-two of his colleagues, introduced the Continuing Robust and Uninhibited Drilling and Exporting (CRUDE) Act of 2021 to restrict President Biden’s ability to impose an export ban on crude oil without first proving a credible national security risk. “The Biden Administration’s rhetoric surrounding an oil export ban is completely misguided and will result in higher energy costs for American consumers, hurt our domestic producers, and weaken our energy independence. I am proud to introduce the CRUDE Act to prevent the Biden Administration from weaponizing trade policies to destroy the oil and gas industry and America’s global energy dominance.” - Congressman Jodey C. Arrington “We appreciate Congressman Arrington’s commitment to protecting crude oil exports – which have demonstrably benefitted our economy and climate – and enhanced the geopolitical and national security of the US and our allies.” - Anne Bradbury, CEO, American Exploration & Production Council “Reimposing a crude oil export ban is a reckless policy that will reduce energy supplies at home and condemn America’s allies to energy poverty and a growing dependence on Russia. Our members are grateful for Congressman Arrington’s fight for Texas businesses. The CRUDE Act is needed to ensure the investments in Texas and along our gulf coast can maintain our energy security.” - Jason Modglin, President, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers “The CRUDE Act gives further assurances to our allies that they can continue to depend on America as a trading partner for reliable energy and improved security around the world. In addition to their economic impact here at home, U.S. energy exports serve an important role in diminishing the ability of hostile regimes to use their own energy as a geopolitical tool. Congressman Arrington and his cosponsors are taking a proactive stance to protect America and our allies by preserving this alternative to less reliable, and higher polluting, energy from other countries.” - Richard England, Vice President of Government Affairs, National Ocean Industries Association ### Congressman Jodey Arrington is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives serving the Nineteenth Congressional District of Texas. He serves as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. |
