WASHINGTON, DC— Tonight, Rep. Jodey C. Arrington (TX-19) issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address:

“Biden’s speech was empty and intellectually dishonest, and his rhetoric was as disconnected from reality as his policies are from the real needs of the American people.

The state of our union is chaos from every corner.

Biden’s self-inflicted chaos has weakened our national security and emboldened our adversaries. From day one, Biden has failed in his chief responsibility – the safety and security of the American people. His open border policy has plagued our nation with record drug and human trafficking, and his lack of support for law enforcement has created a nationwide crime spree. On the world stage, his bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan was an international embarrassment, his negotiations with Iran have been weak and naïve, and the inexcusably slow support for Ukraine and feckless attempt to deter Russia has made the world a more dangerous place.

His senseless economic policies and surrender to the Radical Left have created economic chaos for working American families. Inflation is at a forty year high, real wages are down, and our workforce has been decimated by draconian mandates, welfare without work requirements, and a disrupted supply chain. Despite this economic turmoil, Biden is doubling down on his failed socialist tax and spend policies and radical multi-billion-dollar Green New Deal.

Oil and gas – the lifeblood of our economy and a vital component of our national security – has been continuously assaulted by Biden’s regulatory activism. As a result, Americans are paying more at the pump and our nation is more vulnerable to our adversaries.

While Democrats applauded the President’s empty platitudes and the failed policies he’s been peddling for decades, the American people watching at home weren’t fooled. Their communities are more dangerous, their paychecks are shrinking, and their nation’s reputation is being tarnished by self-inflicted crises and foreign affairs blunders.”
