WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement in response to the Biden Administration’s attempt to message its way out of the inevitable, self-inflicted economic recession on the horizon: 

“The White House spin machine is at it again trying to redefine “recession” ahead of the next quarterly economic report, but if you ask the average American or small business owner, we’re already there. We’ve experienced 13 straight months of record high inflation, now over 9% — the largest in 40 years. Inflation is the most regressive and devastating tax on working Americans. The average family is paying nearly $500 more per month for the same household goods and necessities they bought this time last year. Additionally, more than half of all small businesses are unable to hire the staff they need and, according to a recent NFIB survey, their confidence in the economic outlook is the lowest in 48 years. Democrats can’t message their way out of this self-inflicted economic disaster any more than they can convince the American people we’re not in a recession simply by changing the definition.”
