WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) condemned Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ false claims that the southern border is secure in a recent interview on Fox News live with host Eric Shawn. Rep. Arrington called Mayorkas “unfit for the job,” “delusional,” and “disconnected” for ignoring the facts while lying to the American people.

“You listen to how he [Mayorkas] is straining to parse words for a 50-year politician; I’m not surprised that he is as disconnected as his boss and our Commander in Chief on this issue,” said Rep. Arrington

“I think he’s unfit for the job – he’s either being dishonest with the American people, or he’s delusional and disconnected from the very facts in the reports coming out of his own department…It is insulting to the American people for him to say that, and it’s dangerous because border security is national security,” Rep. Arrington continued.

Under the Biden Administration, there have been more than 3.1 million total apprehensions and four consecutive months of over 200,000 apprehensions at the southern border.

Representative Arrington has been calling this situation an invasion for over a year now. He introduced H.J. Res. 50 in June 2021 – legislation affirming states’ powers under Articles IV Section 4 and I Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution, which recognizes their guaranteed authority to repel an invasion and defend their citizenry from “imminent danger.”

At least 70 Members of Congress from 27 states have sponsored Rep. Arrington’s resolution, demonstrating broad Congressional support for the right of states to enforce immigration laws and secure the border when the federal government refuses to do so.
