Arrington: We Must Be Vigilant and Resolute Against Evil in All Forms, on All Fronts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement on the 21st anniversary of September 11, 2001: “As we mark the 21st anniversary of the worst attack on U.S. soil, have the images of that fateful day etched into the minds of Americans faded along with the lessons learned? “For those who grew up in the new millennium, it may be hard to imagine a time when almost everyone in America — from sea to shining sea, urban to rural, and Republican to Democrat — was united against our enemy and for our country in the days that followed 9-11-01. “Let us never forget…that family and friends of the 9-11 victims grieve every day the loss of their loved ones; that we must be vigilant and resolute against evil in all forms and on all fronts; that police are the good guys and our firefighters and first responders are heroes; that our sons and daughters in the armed services are standing between us and people who want to destroy America; that peace is not ultimately secured through negotiation or appeasement, but strength of will and military might; that there is no freedom without security; that the first job of our government is to protect Americans from enemies foreign and domestic; and that there was a time when national unity was actually attained, patriotism was actually a virtue, and we actually prayed unapologetically as ‘one nation under God.’” “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21, New International Version) Rep. Arrington served as a senior advisor to former President George W. Bush and was under his leadership in the White House on the day of the terrorist attacks. ### |
