WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Jodey Arrington led the Texas Republican delegation in unveiling its border security plan – a Commitment to Secure the Border – for the 118th Congress. “Texas is under siege from this invasion every day and our delegation is tired of watching the Biden Administration have ‘more important things to do than protect our fellow Texans and Americans from cartels, terrorists, fentanyl traffickers, human traffickers, human smugglers, and murderers,” Rep. Roy said. “We are committing ourselves to secure our southern border; we will not accept anything less, and this framework outlines what it’s going to take to get the job done.” “From day one, the Lone Star State has had to fill the void left by a president who abandoned our southern border,” said Congressman Brian Babin, Border Security Caucus Co-Chair. “With the Texas Border Commitment as our framework, we will work with leaders in the state and across the country to ensure that our laws are enforced and the nation is once again protected. Joe Biden will learn what so many already have: Don’t mess with Texas!” “I spent more than 20 years as a federal prosecutor and served as Chairman of Homeland Security, but I have never seen the border this broken — and we have President Biden’s policies to blame for that,” said Congressman McCaul. “As Republican Leader on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I’m urging the State Department to negotiate solutions with our neighboring countries and will continue holding the Biden administration accountable for the crisis it has inflicted on all Americans — especially Texans.” “As migrants and fentanyl continue to pour over our southern border, the Biden Administration sits idly by and refuses to even acknowledge this devastating crisis,” Rep. Crenshaw said. “Texas continues to bear the brunt of this mess, and Biden’s inaction speaks volumes. Come January 3rd, House Republicans will do everything in our power to secure our border and put an end to this national security crisis.” House Republicans have made a Commitment to America to secure the southern border as part of the new majority’s priority to create “ a nation that’s safe.” The delegation’s agenda is a framework by Texans for Texas, which includes four priority areas: Rep. Arrington’s Remarks as Prepared On behalf of the Texas delegation, let me say what a profound honor and privilege it is to represent the great State of Texas and be the voice for the God-fearing, freedom-loving people of the Lone Star State. We have a responsibility as the Texas delegation to represent the Spirit of Texas, which is one that runs to the fight, always fights for what is right, and never gives up. That is the sacred duty and the spirit with which we stand here today, and with which we developed this framework, by Texans for Texas, to secure the border. And, as important as the policies and the strategies in this Texas plan, is our pledge to do everything in our power to make them a reality. It’s important to note that this framework is consistent with and in support of the House Republican’s Commitment to America to create “A Nation that’s Safe.” What is happening at our southern border, and as a result to our fellow citizens, is a disgrace and totally unacceptable. With this new Republican majority in the House, the Texas delegation is committed to using every tool and authority at our disposal to hold President Biden and this Administration accountable for their dereliction of duty; to support our state leaders in their efforts to defend Texas in the face of this clear and imminent danger; And to put the policies in place that will protect our citizens and secure our sovereign border. This is our Commitment to America; This is our plan for Texas; And this is our solemn pledge to our fellow Texans. |
