Arrington Statement on VA Awarding New Leases for Health Care Facilities

Congressman Jodey C. Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement after VA announced it had awarded 13 new leases for health care facilities, reaffirming their commitment to serving and caring for our veterans.
“I’m excited about the partnership between VA and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center to provide thousands of veterans throughout West Texas with the highest quality of care,” Arrington said.“Veterans represent the best of our country, and they deserve the best from their country.”
VA Secretary Robert Wilkie stated, “These awards are the next step in increasing access for our Veterans across the country. VA stands firm in ensuring our Veterans are treated in state-of-the-art facilities and continue to access the high quality of care VA is able to provide.”
BACKGROUND:
VA has been in active lease procurement for a developer to deliver a replacement for the Outpatient Clinic in Lubbock, Texas.
A contract for a $12,344,788.80 lease was awarded September 28, 2018 with construction completion slated for Summer 2020.
VA intends to establish a new, modern, 94,000 square foot clinic offering primary care, mental health services, and specialty care for veterans of Lubbock, Texas and the surrounding communities.
