Arrington, Pfluger, Colleagues Demand Federal Government Reimburse Texas for Cost of Biden’s Border Crisis

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representatives Jodey Arrington (TX-19), August Pfluger (TX-11), and their colleagues continued to demand the federal government reimburse the State of Texas and its taxpayers for the cost incurred due to President Biden’s open border crisis.

"Securing our homeland is a chief responsibility of the federal government,” the members wrote to the House Appropriations Committee. While Texas has faced the brunt of the 7.9 million individuals entering the United States across the southwestern border, all 50 states are being impacted by the mass resettlement of illegal aliens."

“However, in response to the crisis at the southern border, exacerbated by the federal government’s inaction and failed policies, the State of Texas has been forced to pour billions of dollars into securing the Texas-Mexico border,” the members continued. “Ranchers throughout West Texas routinely find bodies of dead migrants or have their properties destroyed. Jails, schools, hospitals, and local communities have incurred the responsibility of facilitating migrants at a rate they cannot sustain. Small localities along the border have had to respond to the federal government’s failures by reallocating resources to not only provide for these migrants but also secure their communities.”
