Today Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement on the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act (H.R. 6136). “Securing our southern border and stemming the tide of illegal immigration is paramount to protecting the American people and safeguarding our sovereignty as a nation. “There were a number of good provisions in the compromise bill, however it did not go far enough to close the biggest loopholes that are driving our immigration crisis – eliminating chain migration and cutting off the employment magnet for illegal immigrants by mandating use of E-Verify. “While I am disappointed we were unable to pass an acceptable border security measure through the House, our nation’s illegal immigration crisis is not one that can continue to go unsolved, and I remain committed to working with my colleagues to come up with a lasting solution to our broken immigration system.”
