Arrington Mourns Loss of West Texas Chaplain, World War II Veteran

Lubbock, TX – Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) issued the following statement on the passing of Lubbock resident Phil Crenshaw, the last surviving Chaplain’s Assistant to serve in World War II:

Lubbock, TX – Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) issued the following statement on the passing of Lubbock resident Phil Crenshaw, the last surviving Chaplain’s Assistant to serve in World War II:

“I’m saddened to learn of Phil Crenshaw’s passing. He was a dear friend and inspiration for all Americans.

“Phil was a gentleman soldier who epitomized our greatest generation - humble, kind, and courageous.

“He was a man I deeply admired and I will forever cherish the memory of him serving as Guest Chaplain for the House of Representatives, opening the House floor with the sweetest prayer you ever heard.

“Mr. Crenshaw’s passing is a tremendous loss to our community and an end of a special era in our nation’s history.”

In 2018, Rep. Arrington invited Phil Crenshaw to Washington, D.C., to serve as Guest Chaplain for the United States House of Representatives. On April 26, 2018, Crenshaw opened the House Floor in prayer, followed by a speech delivered by Rep. Arrington in Crenshaw’s honor.
