Washington, D.C. – This week, the House of Representatives will consider three appropriations bills, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, and Department of Defense Appropriations Act. Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) introduced several amendments to prohibit the Biden administration from utilizing these funding bills to advance its far-Left agenda and fight back against President Biden’s open border policies.

“Today, our nation’s most imminent threat is self-inflicted – President Biden’s wide-open southern border,” said Arrington. “Biden’s refusal to secure the border and enforce the laws of the land has come at the expense of the safety and security of our nation’s citizens.”

Arrington introduced amendments to:

  • Defund the Biden administration’s executive order that would unlawfully use taxpayer dollars to boost voter registration in blue areas of swing states.
  • Compel the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to implement DHS’s Office of Inspector General’s recommendations following its report, which includes improving screening and vetting of asylum seekers, detaining and removing inadmissible travelers, preventing the release of high-risk individuals, and more.
  • Terminate federal funding for NGOs that engage in human trafficking and illegal immigration smuggling.
  • Prohibit Non-Governmental Organizations from using FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program to provide public services to illegal immigrants.
  • Defund the Office of the Secretary of State until the State Department implements sanctions against International Criminal Court (ICC) officials.
  • Prohibit DHS from contracting out to other federal agencies to provide services for illegal immigrants.
