WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (LA-04) issued the following statement praising House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) for his leadership as the author of H.R.1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act:

“Chairman Arrington played a central role in getting the One Big Beautiful Bill across the finish line,” Speaker Johnson said. “As Budget Chairman, he’s the lead budget hawk in the House, but he also understands the art of the possible. He brought real urgency to the conversation about getting our fiscal house in order, and the balanced budget he crafted early on laid the groundwork for many of the reforms in this historic bill. His support in committee on the budget resolution through final passage was critical, and he helped bring it home. As Jodey often reminds us, reversing the curse of runaway spending is a critical mission and there’s always more work to be done. Thanks to his leadership, we took a real step forward in bending the cost curve. This was a big win for our country and we got it done together. I’m thankful to count Jodey as one of my closest friends, and one of the most effective and consequential Members of Congress.”
