LUBBOCK, TX—Rep. Jodey Arrington (TX-19), Senators Cornyn and Cruz, and members of the Texas Delegation honored South Plains’ biggest advocate for the cotton industry, Steve Verett, with a U.S. House of Representatives resolution commemorating his 24 years of service as CEO of the Plains Cotton Growers. “There is no one I’d rather have in the Farm Bill foxhole with me than Steve Verett,” said Rep. Arrington. “He is tenacious, savvy, and unambiguous about where he stands on issues. Any success I’ve had, from getting cotton back in the safety net to better trade deals, I attribute to the great team of agriculture advocates back here in West Texas — and Steve has been the team captain. We are going to miss him. I’m proud to join the Texas Delegation, as well as our Texas Senators, to commend Steve’s many contributions with this resolution. Steve is a true friend, and we all wish him the best in his retirement.” Click here or the image below to read the resolution. |
