Arrington Statement on Opposing Gun Control Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Rep. Jodey C. Arrington (TX-19) issued the following statement after voting against gun control legislation on the House floor:

“The tragic Uvalde shooting is a reminder of the darkness and evil that exist in this world. In a fallen world, you simply cannot protect an individual’s right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness without preserving their ability to confront evil with equal or greater force. That evil may come in the form of a violent criminal, a crazed killer, or a coercive government. Freedom is risky, but the alternative is far worse,” said Rep. Arrington. The federal government’s constitutional duty is to secure our liberty, and it's the state's responsibility to provide for safe neighborhoods and secure schools. Like too many Washington solutions, this bill is either chasing the wrong problem or attempting to solve it from the wrong level of government.”
